A graduating senior attending Savannah State University. She will be receiving a Bachelor degree in Mass Communications, with a concentration in Public relations, and minor in Marketing in December of 2021.

Jade graduated high school with a 3.5 GPA
and will be attending Louisiana State University in Fall of 2023! She will be a Biological Sciences major, on a pre med track!

Shaila Parker
2024 Recipient

 

A 2024 graduate with Honors and Distinction from Booker T Washington High School of the Performing and Visual Arts. She was in the dance conservatory and is also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. 

Dance is Shaila’s passion. She started dancing at the age of 4 in the Precious Lambs dance ministry at Concord Baptist Church in Dallas. From there Shaila went on to take classes in school at Fellowship Christian Academy at Oak Cliff Bible fellowship, Dallas Black Dance Academy, and Heritage School of Classical Ballet. 

Shaila has spent lots of time during her high school career performing and being in service to others. She performed at various community events like the Harambe Festival at the MLK center and City of Dallas Fall Festivals. Her first job was traveling to city of Dallas recreation centers demonstrating Jamaican dance for children. Shaila has volunteered for a few organizations like Vogel Alcove, an organization that provides services to children and families experiencing homelessness, and Daughters of Destiny OES #210 and the Love Alliance, an organization who serves women and children in need.  Shaila accomplished all this and held down a part time job as a server at Flower Child Restaurant. 

Shaila Parker will be attending Alabama State University in the fall as a dance major. Her plans are to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and then apply for the Physical or Occupational Therapy program. In the distant future she plans to open her own practice to geared toward serving dancers and athletes who are injured.

A Junior currently attending Grambling State University. She will be receiving a Bachelor degree in Information Technology and has also been recognized as a 2021 Ebony HBCU Scholar.

Nevaeh graduated high school with a 3.2 GPA! She will be attending Texas Southern University in Fall of 2023!

Isis Fredericks
2024 Recipient

A 2024 graduate from Berkner High School in Richardson TX. Her high school career path was Cosmetology, upon completion of required state testing she will hold a Cosmetology license for the state of Texas. She was a part of the National Honor Society and the debate team. She was also a member of the Berkner Bandoleras Dance team, where she held the title of Social Council President, was a part of the kick line, and won Bandoleara of the week, for her outstanding leadership skills. Isis won Junior Princess 2022-2023, Homecoming Queen 2023- 2024, Voted best dressed by her peers 2023-2024, and was a part of Berkner's Varsity Volleyball Team from 2020-2022. She plans to attend Texas Southern University where she will major in Business Management/ Marketing.

Peyton Orr
2025 Recipient

 

Peyton Orr is a graduating senior at Hampton University, majoring in Strategic Communication with an emphasis in Sport Management. A dedicated scholar, she has been named to the Dean’s List all four years and proudly maintains a 3.699 GPA.

In addition to her academic excellence, she has been a standout leader and representative of Hampton University through the Royal Court. She was Miss Freshman, and later selected toserve as Miss Sophomore Attendant, Miss Junior Attendant, and Miss Senior Attendant, which is a testament to her poise, confidence, and commitment to excellence.

Following graduation, she plans to attend graduate school at either Louisiana State University or the University of Miami, where she will continue building her foundation in sports and media. She aspires to begin her professional career as a Social Media Coordinator, with the ultimate goal of becoming a Sports Agent, using her voice, leadership, and creativity to advocate for athletes and shape sports culture.

As an outstanding scholar and scholarship recipient, Peyton exemplifies dedication, discipline, and grace, both on stage and in the classroom, and continues to inspire through her academic and personal achievements.
